Associating a Lab with a Lecture


Concept

In this topic, you will learn how to Associate a Lab with a Lecture.


Steps:

  1. Follow all of the steps to build the Lecture component first.  For example, Section 01, Class Association 1 and Class Type "Enroll".

     

    Click the Basic Data tab and enter your information.

  2. Click the Meetings tab and enter your information.

  3. Click the Enrollment Cntrl tab and enter your information.

  4. Click the Reserve Cap tab and enter your information.

  5. Click the Notes tab and enter your information.

  6. Click the Class Mkt Code tab,

     

    Contact the Registrar's office if a marketing code is missing.

  7. Click the Save button.

  8. Lecture Component:

     

    Note the Class Section is 01, the Component is Lecture, the Class Type is Enrollment, and the Associated Class is 1.

     

     

    Lab Component:

     

    Click the "+" key to add another section to build the lab component section.

  9. Build the Lab component next. 

     

    Click the Basic Data tab.

  10. Name the Class Section 01A with a Class Association of 1 which will tie this lab with the lecture, Section 1.

     

    Use a class association number of 9999 to associate additional labs to a section.   This will allow students to choose from all of the lab offerings for the lecture.

  11. The Component is LAB.

  12. The Class Type for the Lab component should be "non-enroll" so that students cannot enroll in this lab without taking the associated lecture.

    Note the section 01A, the Component is Lab, the Class Association is 1 (matches the lecture), and the Class Type is Non-Enroll.
