How to Change the Archive Policy in Webmail

In this topic, you will learn how to change the archive policy in webmail.


Steps:

  1. Change the Policy for an Individual Folder:

     

    Right-click the folder.  In this example, we'll select the Inbox.

  2. Click the Archive Policy.

    Step 2
  3. The folder defaults to use the Parent Folder Policy (which is to never archive messages).

    Step 3
  4. Change the policy to archive messages after 30 days.

    Step 4
  5. The policy has been setThe messages in the Inbox will move to the archive when they are older than 30 days.

  6. To archive an individual message:

     

    Left click  the message to select it.

  7. Click the Actions button.

  8. Click Archive Policy.

  9. Note:   We set the Inbox to archive messages after 30 days.  The 30 day policy has been applied to this message because it's in the Inbox.

     

    A policy assigned to a message takes precedence over any inherited folder or mailbox policy.

  10. Change the policy to archive the message after 7 days.

  11. The policy has been setThe message will move to the archive when it is older than 7 days.

  12. Your archived folders and messages will be found under your Personal Archive and are accessible from Outlook and Webmail.
