Working Collection Items


Concept


Steps:

  1. Begin by accessing the Demographic Information page.

     

    Click the Student Financials link.

  3. Click the Begin Customer Collection link.

  4. Click the Search button.

  5. Use the Demographic Information page to view demographic information and collection items for a student.

  6. The pages, steps, and processes for working corporate collection items are the same as those for student collection items, which you will see here.

  7. You want to work collection items for Terry Shannon, whose student ID is SFTRN015.

     

    Enter the desired information into the ID field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "SFTRN015"

  8. Click in the Reason In field.

  9. The system displays demographic and account information on file for the student.

  10. If a student's record does not have a collection letter template associated with it, the Dunning Letter Info link appears.  Click the link to access the Collections Dunning Letter page where you can select collection letter templates for item types.

  11. Click the Get Credit History link to access the Credit History page.

  13. Use the Collection Information page to record collection steps and follow-up actions for collection items.

  14. Enter the desired information into the Follow Up Action field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "PHONECALL"

  15. The Role User field describes your role in the collector process.

  16. Click in the Next Review Date field.

  17. Enter the date on which this collection record must be worked again if it hasn't yet been resolved.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Next Review Date field. Enter

     e.g.
     "09/30/2007"

  18. Use the Communication group box to record communication activity that you perform for this collection record that lies outside of the automated letter generation process.

  20. You want to use the standard collections Dunning letter, which has a code of DUN.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Letter Code field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "DUN"

  21. Use the Checklist group box to record any checklist activity that you perform for this collection record.

  22. Terry has promised to pay $1,000.00 by September 15, 2007.

     

    Click in the Promise Date field.

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "09/15/2007"

  28. You want to add a collections comment to the student's record, with a code of COLL.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Category field. Enter

     e.g.

    Press [Tab].

  30. Click the Get Communication link to access the Communication page where you can view information about any communications that are associated with the collection item you are working.
