Assigning Advisors to Students


Concept


Steps:

  1. Begin by navigating to the Student Advisor page.

     

    Click the Records and Enrollment link.

  2. Click the Student Advisor link.

  3. Enter the desired information into the ID field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "SR0400"
    .

  4. Click the Search button.

  5. Use the Student Advisor page to assign individual advisors or a committee of advisors to a student.

     

    The student must be active in an academic career and an academic program.

  6. You can select the role that the advisor serves for the student.

  7. Click in the Academic Career field.

  8. Enter the desired information into the Academic Career field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "UGRD"
    .

    Step 8
  9. Click in the Academic Program field.

  10. Enter the desired information into the Academic Program field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "LAU"
    .

    Step 10
  11. Click in the Academic Plan field.

    Step 11
  12. Enter the desired information into the Academic Plan field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "UNDECL-UG"
    .

  13. Click in the Academic Advisor field.

  14. Enter the desired information into the Academic Advisor field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "SR6000"
    .

  15. These four check boxes are for information purposes only; there is no coding behind them.

    Step 15
  16. Select the Advised by Committee check box to indicate that a committee rather than an individual advises the student.

     

    The Committee field then becomes available for entry.

  17. Select the Must Approve Graduation check box to indicate that the advisor or committee must make a degree check before the institution can complete the student's graduation process.

     

    The Graduation Approved check box then becomes available for entry.

  18. Select the Must Approve Enrollment check box to indicate that the advisor must approve a student's enrollment into classes.

     

    Click the Must Approve Enrollment option.

  19. Click the Save button.

You have successfully assigned an advisor to a student.
