Creating Course Equivalency Groups

Concept

Steps:

  1. Begin by navigating to the Course Equivalencies page.

    Click the Curriculum Management link.

    Step 1
  2. Click the Course Catalog link.

    Step 2
  3. Click the Course Equivalencies link.

    Step 3
  4. Click the Add a New Value tab.

    Step 4
  5. You can assign an ID or let the system assign one upon saving the component.

Retain the value of NEW in the Equivalent Course Group field if you want the system to assign an ID.

    Click the Add button.

    Step 5
  6. Use the Course Equivalencies page to define the course equivalency group.

    Step 6
  7. In the Effective Date field, enter a date for this equivalent course group. The effective date defines when the status you select is valid. Use a new effective date each time you make a change to an equivalent course group. Insert new rows as needed, and modify the record. This way you can track historical equivalent course changes.

It defaults to the current system date, but can be changed if needed. Use a date far in the past to ensure the group will be available for all possible courses in your system.

Enter the desired information into the Effective Date field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "01/01/1900"
    .

    Step 7
  8. The Status can be Active or Inactive.

Select Active when adding a new equivalent course group.

The Inactive option should only be used if your institution will no longer be using this equivalent course group. Note that if you want to inactivate an equivalent course group, you need to delete that equivalent course group number from each course to which it is attached on the Catalog Data page as well as change the status to Inactive on this page.

    Step 8
