Entering School Course Classification


Concept


Steps:

  1. Begin by navigating to the School Course Classification page.

     

    Click the Campus Community link.

  2. Click the Organization link.

  3. Click the Create/Maintain Organizations link.

  4. Click the School Course Classification link.

  5. Enter the desired information into the External Org ID field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "0061"

  6. Click the Search button.

  7. Use the School Course Classification page to enter the courses offered for each of the organization's subject areas.

  8. Click the Add Row button.

  9. Use the School Course Number field to enter the number of the external course, usually the catalog number.

     

    Enter the desired information into the School Course Number: field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "BIO101"

  10. Click in the Effective Date field.

  11. Specify the date from which the course will be valid. By default, the effective date is set to the current system date. 

     

    Enter the desired information into the Effective Date field. Enter

     e.g.
     "01/01/2002"

  12. The Status can be Active or Inactive.

  13. Click in the Description field.

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "Survey of General Biology"

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "Gen Biol"

  17. In the External Subject Area field, enter the code, from the External Subjects Table page, that describes the subject area of this external course. When courses have different names but are similar in subject—for example, Chemistry and Biology—you can represent both by the single subject that you select here, such as LABS (for Laboratory Science).

     

    Click in the External Subject Area field.

  18. Enter the desired information into the External Subject Area field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "LABS"

  19. In the Career field, select the career level (for example, Undergraduate, Graduate, or PostDoc) of this external course.

     

    In this example, retain the default value.

  20. In the External Course Type field, select a type for this external course. Course types include Challenge, Equivalent, or Event.

     

    Click the External Course Type list.

  21. Click the Course list item.

  22. In the Course Level field, select the level (for example, Freshman, Graduate, or Honors) at which this course is offered.

     

    Click the Course Level list.

  24. In the External Units field, enter the number of units offered by this external course.

     

    Click in the External Units field.

     a valid value
