Processing a Student Payment for One Charge


Concept


Steps:

  1. Begin by navigating to the Student Payments page.

     

    Click the Student Financials link.

  3. Click in the ID field.

  4. Enter the desired information into the ID field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "SFTRN095"

  5. Click the Add button.

  6. Use the Student Payments page to enter details about a student's payment.

     

    You will identify which charges the payments should be credited toward and the type of payment being made.

  7. Click in the Target field.

  8. In the Target field, enter the charge to which this payment should be applied.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Target field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "HOUSING"

  10. Use the Term field to allocate the payment to charges for a specific term. Selecting a term in this field overrides the normal payment allocation rules so that the entire payment posts against charges for the selected term first.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Term field. Enter

     e.g.
     "0590"

  12. You can enter the amount of the payment for  this charge in the Amount field or let the system populate this field with a default value.

     

    The default amount is defined as part of the selected target key.

  14. The Tender field identifies the method of payment the student is using.

     

    If you select either a check or credit card as tender, the system prompts you to enter further payment information.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Tender field. Enter

  17. Click the Select Charges to Pay link to access the  Charges to Pay page where you can specify to which charges you want to apply the payment.

     

    You can only pay charges associated with the target key that you select in the Target Detail group box. If you select more than one target key in the Target Detail group box, the Select Charges to Pay page is not available.

     

    Click the Select Charges to Pay link.

  18. Use the Select Charges to Pay page to allocate student payments to specific charges.

  19. Click in the Pay Amount field.

  20. Select one or more item types to which this payment should be applied.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Pay Amount field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "500.00"

  22. Click the Tender Details link to access either the Credit Card Information page or the Check Information page, depending on which tender you enter.

     

    Click the Tender Details link.

  23. Use the Credit Card Information page to enter the student's credit card information.

  24. Enter the code for the type of credit card used to make a credit card payment.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Card Type field. Enter

  36. Click the Create Receipt button to create a receipt for the student. If your cashiering office is set up for no posting delay, the system posts the payment when you click this button.

     

    Click the Create Receipt button.

  37. The Create Receipt button becomes the Print Receipt button. Click the Print Receipt button to print a receipt for the student.

     

    Where the receipt is printed depends on how your system is set up.

  38. If you want to start another student payment transaction, click the New Transaction button to return to the Student Payments search page.

  39. Next, review the receipt.

     

    Click the Review Student Receipts link.

  40. Use the Student Receipts page to print a receipt for a student from an earlier cashiering transaction.

     

    You can review receipts for a particular student by using this page.

  41. Enter the ID of the student for whom you want to review receipts.

     

    Enter the desired information into the ID field. Enter

     e.g.

  42. Use the Search button to populate the results table and see any receipts for the selected student.

     

    Click the Search button.

  43. Click the link in the Receipt Nbr (number) column to access the Receipt Detail page.

     

    Click the 1009 link.

  44. Use the Receipt Detail page to review a summary of information entered on the Student Payments page.

  45. Use the Return to Student Receipts link to return to the Student Receipts page.

You have successfully entered a student payment for a single target fee.
