Entering Visa/Permit Data


Concept


Steps:

  1. Begin by navigating to the Visa/Permit Data page.

     

    Click the Campus Community link.

  5. Enter the desired information into the ID field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "AD1008"

  7. Use the Visa/Permit Data page to enter and track an individual's visa and permit information.

  10. In the Country field, specify the issuing country for the individual's visa or permit.

     

    In this example, select the default value.

  11. In the Type field, enter the type of visa or permit, from the Visa/Permit Table page. The available types are based on the country specified.

     

    Click in the Type field.

     a valid value

  13. Click the Get Supporting Documents button to retrieve the supporting document IDs and descriptions from the Visa/Permit Table page for the visa or permit type specified in the Type field.

     

    Click the Get Supporting Documents button.

  15. Use the Effective Date field to enter the date on which the visa or permit is effective or the date on which the information should become effective in your database.

     

    It defaults to the current system date, but can be changed if needed. For this example, use the default date.

  16. In the Number field, enter the issuance number from the individual's official visa or permit.

     

    Click in the Number field.

  18. Use the Status field to define the status of the official visa or permit. Valid values are: Applied, Granted, Renewal, and Renewed.

     

    In this example, the visa has been granted.

     

    Click the Status list.

  20. Use the Status Date field to enter the date of the status. The default is the system's current date, but you can override this if needed.

  22. Use the Issue Date field to enter the date of issuance from the individual's official visa or permit.

  24. Use the Duration and Duration Type fields to specify the length of time during which the visa or permit is valid. Enter the number in the first field, and in the second field specify the period, such as days, months, terms, or years.

     

    Click in the Duration field.

  28. Use the Date of Entry into Country field to enter the official date on which the individual entered your institution's country.

     

    Use the Expiration Date field to enter the date on which this individual's visa or permit expires. The system calculates the expiration date based on the specified duration and the date of entry into the country. You can override the system-calculated date.

  29. Use the Issuing Authority field to enter the name of the agency or authority that issued the official visa or permit.

     

    Click in the Issuing Authority field.

You have successfully entered visa information for an individual.

 

To summarize, in order to enable foreigners to work at, visit, or attend your institution, you use the Visa/Permit Data component to track information about their visas and permits.
