Creating Student Refunds with an Extra Amount

Steps:

  1. Begin by navigating to the Refund with Extra Amount page.

     

    Click the Student Financials link.

  3. Click the Refund with Extra Amount link.

  4. Click the Search button.

  5. Use the Refund with Extra Amount page to create a refund for an amount greater than the refundable balance.

  6. You want to create this extra refund for Jezebel Jackson, whose student ID is SFRE00018.

     

    Enter the desired information into the ID field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "SFRE00018"

  7. After you enter the student ID and click in another field, the system populates the student's refund selection information.

     

    Click the Refund Method list.

  8. The Refund Method that you select here will affect the fields that appear on the rest of the page.

     

    Click the A/P list item.

  9. Click the Academic Information link to access the Academic Information page where you can view enrollment and personal information for the student.

  10. Click the Student Accounts link to access the Student Accounts page where you can view a student's account activity information.

  11. The Refund Selection group box displays the credit line items available to be refunded.

     

    Select the check box next to each item to include it in the refund.

  12. Click in the Refund Amount field.

  13. The system automatically enters the total amount of the line item here. To include only a portion of the line item in the refund, decrease the amount.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Refund Amount field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "25.00"

  14. The Format field refers to the format used to distribute the refund.

     

    In this case, A is for automatic check.  Other format values are C (credit card), D (direct deposit), E (electronic check), and P (paper check).

     a valid value
     e.g.

  20. You want to add $50.00 extra to the amount of the student's refund.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Extra Amount field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.

  21. Use the View Refund Check group box to view a simulation of a refund check for the amount that you are refunding.

     

    However, since you have entered an extra amount to refund, the system first accesses the Extra Refund Amount page where you enter details about the additional amount.

     

    Click the Expand section button.

  22. Use the Extra Refund Amount page to specify account and term information associated with the extra amount refunded.

  23. This extra refund amount should be charged to a miscellaneous fees account.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Extra Account Nbr field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "MISFEES001"

  25. The extra refunded amount should be assigned to the Fall 2007 term, term 0590.
