Creating and Linking a Deferral Contract to an Account

Steps:

  1. Begin by navigating to the Deferral Contract page.

     

    Click the Student Financials link.

  4. Click the Add a New Value tab.

  5. Note that the system assigns a Contract Number of NEXT until you save the new contract you are about to create.

     

    Click the Add button.

  6. Use the Deferral Contract page to define basic deferral contract parameters.

  7. Click the Copy button to access the Copy Contract page, where you can copy an existing deferral contract as the basis of a new deferral contract. You may copy all contract setup information except for term and date information.

  15. Enter the item type Tree Name that includes the charge item types that you cover under this plan.

     

    In this case, accept the system default value.

  17. Enter the maximum amount you want to allow any one student to defer under the contract.

     

    Be sure to set this amount high enough to meet your needs. The system does not defer eligible charges that cause the deferred amount to exceed the student maximum.

  18. Set the date range for the deferral contract. The system defers only eligible charges posted to the student’s account within this range.

     

    Click in the From Date field.

    Click in the Defer Date field.

    Click in the Tree Node field.

    Be sure to set this amount high enough to meet your needs.

    Eligible charges are selected for deferment on an individual basis and the sum of charges within the node must not exceed the maximum amount.

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "4,000.00"

  46. Now that you have created a deferral contract, link it to a student's account.

     

    Click the Assign Deferral Contract link.

  49. You want to link this contract to Terry Chastain, whose student ID is SFTRN025.

     

    Enter the desired information into the ID field. Enter

  50. Note that the system has carried over the Contract Number of the deferral contract you just created.

  52. Use the Defer Student page to define student-specific details for a deferral contract.

  53. In this example, do not change the terms or other contract details for this student; however, waive the Assessment Fee.

     

    Click the Waive Fee option.

    After calculating the contract, but before posting it, you can navigate to the Defer Student Charges page to confirm which charges the system selected for deferral.

  57. After posting, you can click the Deferred Charges link to confirm that the charges have been deferred to the correct dates.
