Entering Extracurricular Activities


Concept


Steps:

  1. Begin by navigating to the Extracurricular Activities page.

     

    Click the Campus Community link.

  3. Click the Extracurricular Activities link.

  4. Enter the desired information into the ID field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "0058"

  5. Click the Search button.

  6. Use the Extracurricular Activities page to enter extracurricular activities data to track internal or external student activities for an individual.

  7. Use the Internal/External drop-down list to specify whether the activity in which the individual participates, is within or outside of your institution.

     

    In this example, the student's experience was from high school.

     

    Click the Internal/External list.

  9. In the Activity field, select the activity code, from the Extracurricular Activities Table page, which represents the activity in which the individual participates.

     

    Click in the Activity field.

  10. In this example, the code for Speech/Debate is E01.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Activity field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "E01"

  11. When you select a code and save the page, the system displays the description associated with the specific activity code.

     

    You can manually enter an activity description without selecting a code. However, to be sure that the activity will be included in FERPA and other processes that depend on the codes, you should consider setting up the activity on the Extracurricular Activities Table page.

     

    Click the Save button.

  12. Notice that the Description and Activity Type fields default based on the Activity selected.

  13. In the Start Date field, enter the date on which the individual's participation in this activity began.

     

    Click in the Start Date field.

  14. Enter the desired information into the Start Date field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "09/01/2004"

  15. In the End Date field, enter the date on which the individual's participation in this activity ended.

     

    Click in the End Date field.

  17. Select the Interest check box to indicate that the individual expresses an interest in participating in this activity while at your institution.

     

    Click the Interest option.

  18. Select the appropriate check boxes to indicate the years during which the individual participated in this type of activity.

     

    Click the Eleventh Grade option.

  20. In the Academic Institution field, the system displays the academic institution of the student, unless the student has more than one, in which case you must select the relevant institution.

  21. In the Academic Career field, the system displays the academic career of the student, unless the student has more than one, in which case you must select the relevant career.

     

    Click in the Academic Career field.

  22. In this example, the student is an undergraduate student.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Academic Career field. Enter

  23. In the Term field, specify the term during which this individual is scheduled to participate in this activity.

     

    Click in the Term field.

  24. In this example, the student is going to join the university debate team in the Fall 2007 term. The code for this term in 0590.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Term field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "0590"

  25. Use the Office Held drop-down list to specify the office, if any, that this individual holds in this activity, such as captain, EIC, president, treasurer, or vice president.

     

    In this example, the student was the captain of his team.

     

    Click the Office Held list.

  27. In the Time Involvement section, enter the amount of time that the individual devotes to this activity. Enter the number in the first field and select a time period in the second field. Values for the second field are: Days/Month, Hrs/Week, and Wks/Year.

     

    If you specify the number of hours per week in the Time Unit 1 field, you should also specify the number of weeks per year that the individual devotes to the activity in the Time Unit 2 field.

     

    Click in the Time Unit 1 field.
