Entering Language Information


Concept


Steps:

  1. Begin by navigating to the Languages page.

     

    Click the Campus Community link.

  2. Click the Personal Information link.

  4. Click the Languages link.

  5. Enter the desired information into the ID field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "0058"

  6. Click the Search button.

  7. Use the Languages page to enter and track an individual's language abilities.

  8. Click in the Language Code field.

  9. Valid language codes are entered into the system as part of the implementation of PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions. In this example, the code for Spanish is SP.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Language Code field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "SP"

  10. There are three check boxes available for each language entered.

    Native: Select this check box to indicate that this is the individual's native or primary language.

    Translator: Select this check box to indicate that the individual can translate or interpret this language.

    Teacher: Select this check box to indicate that the individual can teach or has taught this language.

     

    In this example, John has acted as an interpreter.

     

    Click the Translator option.

  11. Select the level of proficiency, such as high, medium, or low, with which the individual can speak, read, and write this language.

     

    In this example, John is fluent in all aspects.

     

    Click the Speak list.

  18. Enter the date on which the individual's levels of proficiency in this language were evaluated, reported, or entered.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Evaluation Date field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "01/17/2007"

  19. Next, add the information for Italian. John has moderate proficiency in all aspects for this language.

     

    Click the Add button.

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "IT"

  29. The Set Preferred Communication Language appears only if the Support multiple languages check box is selected on the Installation Default - CC (installation default - Campus Community) page.

     

    Click this link to access the Communication Preferences page where you can specify the language in which the student prefers to receive communications from you.
