A daemon is a specialized Application Engine process that runs more or less constantly. Rather than being scheduled, a daemon will run based on an event. For example, a daemon program could look for a specific file, and if it appears, import the data to a table and delete the file.
Daemons are organized into groups of one or more individual daemon groups, and then assigned to a specific process scheduler server. All of the daemons in the group will run at a defined interval as long as the server is running.
Before starting a daemon Application Engine program, you must add the program to the Daemon Group page in PeopleSoft Process Scheduler.
In this topic, you will create a new daemon group.
