Creating a Related Content Publication


Concept


Steps:

  1. Begin by navigating to the Related Information Publication page.

     

    Click the Portal Administration link.

  3. Click the Define Publications link.

  4. The Related Information template pagelet delivered with PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal has a publication number of 1.

     

    Enter the desired information into the = field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "1"
    .

  5. Click the Search button.

  6. Use the Related Information Publication page to create or update related information publications and save them to the portal registry.

     

    In this example, you will use this page to view the definition for the Related Information template pagelet delivered with PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal (shown above), and then you will return to this page to create an additional publication for related training information.

  7. Next, define a new publication.

     

    Click the Define Publications link.

  8. Click the Add a New Value tab.

  9. The Label field is used as the name of the pagelet in the portal registry and as the name when the pagelet displays in an Intelligent Context Manager menu.

     

    Enter the desired information into the Label field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "Training Related Information"
    .

  10. Click in the Description field.

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "Display related training information"

  12. Select the type of content that you want to be available as related information on the publication. If you select a value other than All Types, topic experts can assign only that type of content to the publication. Available values are:

    All Types. Content can be of any type.

    External Website. Content is found on an external website.

    File Attachment. Content is contained in a file.

    Managed Content. Content is managed by the content management system in PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal.

    Menu Item. Content is registered in the portal registry.

  13. The Document Storage field indicates where file attachment content is stored.

  14. Click the Look up Document Storage button.

  15. Use the Look Up Document Storage page to look up the storage locations defined in the system.

  16. Click an entry in the URL Identifier column.

  17. Saving a publication does not make it available. You must add new publications to the portal registry, or update the portal registry when changes are made to existing publications.

     

    Click the Add to Portal Registry button.

  18. Notice that the Pagelet Name field has been updated with the actual registered name.

     

    Click the Save button.
