Working with the Related Contacts Pagelet


Concept


Steps:

  1. Begin by navigating to the Course Details page for a specific course—PeopleTools I.

     

    In this example, the Course Details page is the target page that has the Related Contacts pagelet associated with it. In this example, the Related Contacts pagelet has also been made key sensitive.

     

    Click the Courses link.

  2. Click the Course Definition link.

  3. The other pagelets are found above the Menu pagelet in the menu frame.

     

    Click the vertical scrollbar.

  4. The Related Contacts and Related Information pagelets are not populated. They are related to a key (that is, they are key sensitive) and will be populated when a specific course is selected.

  6. Click an entry in the Course Code column.

The Related Contacts pagelet is used to display email links to contacts (users defined in the system) that are pertinent to a specified menu item—in this example, relating contacts with a specific course. If you are the topic expert assigned to this menu item and pagelet combination, the edit links, the Show All link, and Add button appear as above. For other users, the Show All link appears only when there are more than five contacts to be displayed.

     

    In this example, you will send an email to a contact available in the pagelet. Then, as the topic expert assigned to this menu item and pagelet combination, you will add a new related contact to the pagelet.

  9. Click the Vice President of Finance link.

  10. The Contact User page opens in a separate window.

     

    Use the Contact User page to send an email or instant message to a related contact.

     

    In this example, you will send an email to this contact.

  12. Enter the desired information into the Email Subject field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "Course Meeting"
    .

     "Monday, 1:00 in the training room."

  18. In this example, as the topic expert assigned to this menu item and pagelet combination, you will now add a new related contact for this course.

     

    Click the Add button.

    Use the Related Contact page to add or update a related contact associated with the current menu item.

     

    In this example, you will add a related contact.

  20. Enter the desired information into the Contact field. Enter

     a valid value
     e.g.
     "PTDMO"

  22. Notice that while a label is automatically displayed next to the Contact field, the Display Label field is not automatically populated.

  23. Notice that the Publish Dt field is populated automatically with the current date. The Expiration Date field is optional.
