Deleting a News Publication


Concept


Steps:

  1. Begin by navigating to the Browse News Publications page.

     

    Click the Content Management link.

  3. Use the Browse News Publications page to create news publications, browse to publication sections, view publication properties, and delete news publications.

     

    In this example, you will attempt to delete a news publication.

  5. Use the Delete Confirmation page to confirm the deletion.

  6. Click the Yes - Delete button.

  7. The Delete Denied page indicates that the delete cannot be performed. One or several conditions might prevent a delete. Only the first condition encountered is described in the error message.

     

    In this example, the publication’s properties allow articles to be submitted from the pagelet. You must clear this option and complete other preparatory tasks before this publication can be deleted.

  9. The first step is to review the status of articles in each section of the publication.

     

    Click an entry in the Title column.

  11. The second step is to withdraw or move all published articles. You will have to withdraw or move each of the published articles in this section.

     

    In this example, you will withdraw one article from publication and move the other article to a different publication.

    Note. An image associated with a published article also has a status of published. Withdrawing a published article does not change the published status of its associated image, which must be changed separately. However, moving a published article to another publication moves its associated image as well.

     

    In this example, the article does not have an associated image.

     

    Click the Unpublish button.

  14. Click the Return to Browse Publication Sections link.

  15. Notice that the status of the first article has changed from published to pending.

     

    Click the Properties link.

  16. Move the second article to a different publication.

     

    Click the Locations link.

  17. Use the Article Locations page to select the locations where an article can be published.

     

    In this example, you will remove the article from the publication to be deleted and add it to a different publication.

  18. Remove the article from its current publication.

     

    Click the Training News option.

  20. Default publication and expiration dates appear based on the settings for the selected section. If desired, you can clear the Publish field to move the article to a different publication as unpublished. You can also click the Submit button on the properties page to submit the article to the new publication with a status of pending.

  22. Submit the article to the new publication with a status of pending.

     

    Note. Clicking the Publish button will publish the article in the new publication.

  25. The third step is to disallow submission of articles from the pagelet.

     

    Click the Properties link.

  26. Use the Folder Properties page to set the properties for a new folder or to update property details for an existing folder.

     

    In this example, you will disallow submission of articles from the pagelet prior to deleting the publication.

  30. The fourth step is to move or delete articles in the Submitted Articles folder.

     

    Notice that the Submitted Articles folder is empty. Therefore, the deletion can proceed without examining that folder.

     

    Click the News Publications link.

  31. The fifth and final step is to delete the news publication.

     

    Note. You must be a top administrator for the news publication feature to be allowed to delete a publication.

     

    Click the Delete button.
